Q.
What are the accommodations like?

The sheep creek house has three bedrooms upstairs for hunters, two with two beds in each room, one with one; sitting room area that can accommodate more beds, guides and cooks stay downstairs. Comfortable house, over 100 years old, well ta ken care of; no electricity, telephones, indoor plumbing; but there is lots of scenery. Some of the extras on a trip to Montana are the beautiful sunrises and sunsets – nothing like them except in our Big Sky Country.

Our main house, three miles east of White Sulphur Springs: hot showers, telephone, TV (if you want it), electric blankets on every bed, but 32 miles to the hunting camp each way.

Tenderfoot house, log, electricity from a light plant, indoor bathroom, no hot water, three bedrooms and a bunkhouse. Used mainly for archery, trail rides, fishing and other summer activities.
Q.
Will there be a cook?

Wherever you stay, there will be a cook with three meals a day provided.

Q.

Can I bring an extra (buddy or spouse) who won't be hunting?

We will work with you on this. When there is a full week, there won't be room in the vehicle, etc. When we have the room, we are happy to accommodate non-hunting guests. Price is determined by circumstances, so we'll have to talk to you about it.

Q.

What should I wear?

We recommend layers, wool works well for the really cold weather, the new fibers are great, too. Be sure your clothing is quiet - no plastic or other noise-making garments or equipment. You will be coming to Montana where the weather can be anything from 40 below to 70 above. We can have rain and will probably have snow - we pray for "tracking snow." Be sure you have good foot gear appropriate to the various possible weather conditions - and be sure that are "bro ken in." Also be sure you have your 400 square inches of florescent orange.

Q.

How was this past season for successful elk hunting?

2004 was a great season. The first week saw five elk for five hunters, including one first-time elk hunter. We still have an over 50 percent success rate.

Q.

Are the cookies baked yet?

Carol keeps the cookie bucket full all season. One year she baked over 100 DOZEN cookies and they were all eaten, though many by the guides we suspect.
