The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks has two options for non-resident hunters, the outfitter sponsored license and the regular draw license. Cost is determined by a market driven system. For 2004 the outfitter sponsored Big Game License was set at $975, down a little from last year, while the draw license stayed at $628. There are also the options of elk combination (no deer) or deer only licenses. 2005 rates will be set sometime in January and the rates will be posted here as soon as they are available.

For more information or applications contact them at: Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Special Licensing, 1020 East Sixth Avenue, Helena, Montana 59624, Phone (406) 444-2950. (or apply online)

Outfitter sponsored means you are guaranteed a license - regular draw is done via lottery. If you chose to use the regular draw and fail to get a license we cannot return your deposit.

We normally book week-long hunts, one day in/out and six days of actual hunting. Our main business is fair chase rifle hunts for elk or deer, but we are happy to guide archery hunters as well. We also have a good pack of hunting dogs for the cougar season. Charges for the 2005 season are; an archery or rifle hunt for elk or deer is $2000 per hunter per week and for cougar a flat rate of $3000. Deposit required is $500.00 per hunter. (Due February 15th) If you must book for less than a week, cost is $400.00 per hunter per day and while we will do our best to work you in when you’d like, priority will go to the week-long (or longer) hunters.

We will negotiate with hunters who are “drop-ins,” those calling after they arrive in the area during the season. There are times we are just happy to have them, other times, we are just too busy with booked clients.

During your stay with us, you will be our guests. Your fee is for hunting. We will be happy to have you with us in our home or at the hunting camp where we have the use of a big ranch house. As our guests, we will invite you to share our meals, which we do try to make special. However, if you choose to stay elsewhere, or if you’d rather do your own cooking, there will be no reduction in fees.

We will do our very best to get you game; all of us work hard for you. We will field dress your game, help you get it out, skin it and take it to the processor or taxidermist if that is what you would like. Contact us today for your own great hunting adventure in the Tenderfoot area of central Montana.
